I AM: A Page From the Poet's Diary

I AM a visionary; a warrior with an author's pen. A mentor, teacher and educator. A student with a scholar's disposition. The voice of logic, reasoning, organizing and directing.

I AM passionate and compassionate; tolerant and intolerant; strong, sensitive and caring. I am protective, insightful, wise, loving and loyal.

I AM vulnerable, but only to my own flaws. I am tactful, classy, and no nonsense. I am learned yet ignorant; saturated to my core with the fruit of humanity; silent and watchful, and verbose with cutting edge expressions.

I AM fat with information; my veins swollen with the blood of the righteous who came before me, so...I am them, too.

I AM mean with hatred toward injustice; unafraid and prepared to go the distance. I am the key that unlocks the chains of your captive condition; not for everyone, but for someone.

I AM the sword that beheads traitors; the authority who gave the order. I am a million years old, having found residence inside a young shell, therefore, I am past, present and future.

I AM the re-entry of eternal energy into this present generation, sent to proceed with the orders of antiquity when existence gave my ancestors their instructions.

I AM so much that one can neither fathom the depths from which I have emerged nor the heights to which I will ascend. I cannot be explained because I am always evolving.

Simply put, I AM... CONSCIOUSNESS, and there is neither a beginning nor an ending to that.

I am pleased to share with you this phenomenal online institution of learning where some of the greatest scholars and thinkers have been gathered together like the modern day X-Men or the Avengers to teach and share their life's work with those who are interested in critical, next level thinking. The adepts are brilliant and the content is rich and potent. The brainchild behind this genius and the founder of the school is none other than the man know as the Oprah of the internet and the Metaphysical Morpheous -- Philippe "SHOCK" Matthews. Believe me when I tell you, you cannot receive this level of academic information from any of today's universities. Below is a description of and introduction to the school, the adepts, and the courses that will be available to you. Hotep Family, I am writing to inform you that Philippe SHOCK Matthews has officially launched the SHOCK Metaphysics Virtual Wisdom School http://bit.ly/2IE6Y82 ! I am honored to b...

Caged Freedom: Sometimes Freedom Doesn't Mean You're Free

I thought this video would assist me with driving home my point and serve as the perfect example of what I mean by Caged Freedom. I'm sure most of you are familiar with the 1994 movie The Shawshank Redemption starring Morgan Freeman, Tim Robbins, and James Whitmore. My primary focus is on Whitmore's character, Brooks Hatlen. An inmate who was sentenced to life in Shawshank in 1912. During his stay something strange happened to Brooks, he got used to his life of doing time. I dare to say that after so long, it didn't feel like he was doing time anymore. The place that was meant to punish him eventually began to feel like home. There, regardless of why he was convicted, he became somebody within the prison community. He felt respected like the neighborhood parson; appreciated like the grocer who lets you slide with a buck or two; the barber who gives you that fresh cut on the house from time to time; or that nice old man who always has a kind word to say who people in...

Don't Be Afraid: A Page From the Poet's Diary

Those who know me know I am a huge fan of the Temptations. They are my favorite group of all time. And this song selection is one of my favorite ballads of all time. To me, it embodies the essence of love and genuine interest in the one you have set your heart upon. With Richard Street on the lead vocals, blending his golden pipes with the crisp falsetto of Damon Harris and the overall harmony of the group, it is easy to see and hear why this is one my favorite love songs. After listening to it, it will probably be one of yours, too. Street, who I feel is underrated as a singer and is seldom mentioned among the great vocalists, definitely put his soul into this one. The following is a poem I wrote back in 2010 at work while sitting at my desk. I thought the song would compliment the poem. Leave your comments below and let me know what you think.                                       ...
